Sparkling Agapanthus at Bodnant Gardens

Passing through North Wales the other day I called in at the National Trust’s Bodnant Garden in the beautiful Conwy Valley. After hiding in the coffee shop for some heavy downpours to pass by, I was rewarded with a few minutes of sunshine that turned the rain-soaked late-summer flowers into sparkling jewels.

The borders choc-a-bloc with Agagpanthus caught my eye in particular; the mix of summer sun and heavy rain showers may be frustrating to the visitor at times but the atmosphere it creates and the effect on the colours is quite breathtaking.
